The Shape of Things to Come - Speculations, Theories,Spoilers, Facts

As always - spoilers included!

After the long five weeks of waiting, the new episode of Lost is finally out. I was feeling like I'm stuck in a time loop. Actually, the wait was not that long, but after the interesting ending of Meet Kevin Johnson, it was like waiting for years. The Shape of Things to Come was the most interesting episode out of Season 4. It featured and old "friend" we remember from the previous seasons - The Black Smoke Monster.

When Lost left us, Rousseau and Karl were laying dead on the ground, Locke was wondering what to do next, since he didn't received instructions for his next move from Jacob and the group on the beach was awaiting the rescue team from the freighter.

The title "The Shape of Things to Come" is very correctly used, because the mysteries finally come to take shape. Ben's interesting line: "He changed the rules..." seems to rise a lot of new speculations. Does Jacob arrange the rules and this is just a game, or does Widmore arrange them? Is the smoke monster a "pet" of Ben, which was given as an advantage to Ben in this "game"?

As it appears, Ben is kind of a time-traveller. We also see why and how Sayid works for Ben in the future. We learn who shot Karl and Rousseau. Ben's daughter Alex follows their fate as the episode advances (which makes Ben very angry and force him to release his "pet", because Widmore "broke the rules").

Watch Lost The Shape of Things to Come Online Speculations and TheoriesAs we see, the island "belongs" to Widmore, but Ben "took it away" from him. Ben appears to not being able to kill Widmore for some mysterious reason, but he will kill Widmore's daughter, Penny (Desmond's girlfriend), for revenge.

The body washed up on shore belongs to a doctor from the freighter and somebody apperantly killed him by cutting his throat. Farraday later contacts the freighter using the Morse Code, but the reply is that the doctor is find and what the hell is Faraday talking about. Is the doctor from an alternative universe or time, passed through the special "entrance coordinate" to the island's time (or space)?
